Worship services at Desert Spring United Methodist Church are family friendly and children are always welcome to attend services with their families. Children ages 3 - fifth grade also have a choice to attend Children's Church and Sunday School offered in tandem with all three worship services each Sunday morning. Children's Church is a 25 minute worship that is conducted for and by children. A child liturgist and often a child musician lead this service where kids learn worship standards and watch videos that capture the day's theme and/or message. After Children's Church the kids join their Sunday School teacher and walk to the classroom together.
Sunday School offers a dynamic learning atmosphere where fun and Bible facts collide. All kids receive a small full color booklet depicting a Bible story each week. A lesson theme is introduced during Children's Church, however, in the classroom teachers can discuss how the scripture applies to today, or "what is God saying to me". Kids also work on a faith journal weekly depicting the lesson or Sunday School photos for a scrapbook appeal to each book. Kids take their books home in May.
